The Company
Q. Is Your Home Check associated with any other repair companies or contractors?
A. No. Your Home Check does not provide any service, repair or construction-related activities. It would represent a conflict of interest. Our goal is to always provide our clients with unbiased information. Our home technicians can suggest several referral options to the homeowner on how to proceed if a specific problem is discovered but we are not compensated by any other company.
The Consultation
Q. How soon can you typically schedule a consultation and how long does it take?
A. The consultation is made by appointment only and can usually be scheduled within two or three days. A typical consultation at a 2400-square-foot home will take roughly 1.5 hours. The comprehensive written report including infrared scanning data takes 24 hours to prepare.
Q. Can the homeowner attend the consultation?
A. We encourage homeowners to be there during the consultation, so they get a better understanding of their property and are better able to interpret the report. This also helps them understand the scope of what the consultation entails.
Q. After the initial consultation, are there any advantages to being on the Your Home Check program?
A. We are also there for consultation during the year whether it is to look into a new problem which has arisen, check out repair work to mechanical systems or to review a planned remodeling project. We can help you make informed decisions before you begin remodeling and check out finished repair/remodeling projects to make sure they were performed to specifications. The continuing benefits of being on the program include free phone consultation for any questions or problems that may arise during the year.
Q. What kind of training is offered to your home technicians?
A. Collectively, our home diagnostic technicians have visited more than 1000 properties and have 20 years of construction and inspection experience. In addition, each has hundreds of hours of classroom and on-the-job training through the industry’s most extensive training program, offered by industry sponsored and private training institutes.
Q. What is the cost of the home consultation?
A. Consultation fees vary depending on the size of the home. A complete consultation on a typical 2000-square-foot home is $195. Customers can pay for an individual consultation or can opt for the money-saving multi-year service. Call Your Home Check to discuss our fee options.
The Consultation Report
Q. What will the consultation report include?
A. The report includes the Infrared scanning data and covers the Foundation, Roof, Building Components, Plumbing, Electrical, Heating/AC, Appliances, Attic, Insulation, Ventilation, Garage, Kitchen, Bathrooms, and all other Interior Rooms.
Q. When will I receive my consultation report?
A. We will prepare a computer-generated, comprehensive report between 7-15 pages in length. The report is narrative in nature so that you can easily read, in plain English, the results of the home inspection. Your report is typically available within 24 hours of the consultation.
